A true tribute to the Latin American song. That is what the albums of the Mexican Natalia Lafourcade, winner of two Grammys, fourteen Latin Grammys and five MTV awards, have in store. A curriculum and discography as astounding as that of her predecessor on stage, the Almeria-born guitarist Niño Josele, one of the artists who best fuses flamenco with jazz and other sound languages.
Natalia Lafourcade's is a subtly beautiful world. And hers is an exquisite and rising discography, backed by collaborations with Juan Gabriel, Mon Laferte, Jorge Drexler, Lila Downs, Omara Portuondo or Julieta Venegas, among many others. A force of nature. Lyricism, sensitivity and talent always in her creations, and Todas las flores (2022), one of the best albums of her career, is no exception. Which is already saying a lot, after peaks like Hasta la raíz (2015) or Musas (2018), in which he reinterpreted from old songs by Atahualpa Yupanqui, Simón Díaz, Margarita Lecuona or María Grever. It is a new milestone in the career of an artist who has moved with the same fluency in synthetic pop, bolero, cumbia, candombe, ranchera, bolero or Afro-Caribbean rhythms, because in essence all the songs of the world come to be one and the same in her argument.
Almeria-born Juan José Heredia, Niño Josele, is one of the most versatile flamenco guitarists of the last decades. He has played throughout his career with artists such as Enrique Morente, Duquende, Remedios Amaya, Paco de Lucía, Montse Cortés or El Cigala, but also with international stars such as Andrés Calamaro, Elton John, Joan Manuel Serrat, Lenny Kravitz or Alicia Keys. No wonder he also recorded a daring last album, Galaxias(2022), marked by the influence of Chick Corea. And there is also a reason why he has collaborated with producers such as Fernando Trueba or Javier Limón. He has been nominated twice for the Latin Grammy, in 2010 and 2012.
