Brazilian Marisa Monte and Peruvian Eva Ayllón are two true legends of Latin American music. They will perform on the same stage to give a good account of their mastery of bossa nova, Carioca waltz, funk and soul (the former) and Afro-Peruvian rhythms such as landó (the latter).
Is Marisa Monte the current queen of Brazilian music? Based on her more than 15 million albums sold worldwide, the four Latin Grammy Awards she holds and the indisputable quality of albums such as "Mais" (1991) or "Verde, Anil, Amarelo, Cor-de-Rosa e Carvão" (1994), masterpieces of her country's music, it would seem that she is. Only Elis Regina (whom Rolling Stone places on a par with her), Gal Costa and Maria Bethânia could compete with her for this hypothetical throne. The one of the three vertexes of Tribalistas, together with Arnaldo Antunes and Carlinhos Brown, is a star who turns everything she touches into gold. Admirer of genuine artists such as Roberto Carlos, Tim Maia, Jorge Ben, Cole Porter or The Beatles, she arrives at Noches del Botánico after the release of "Portas (Ao Vivo)" (2023), live translation of her 2021 album, the one co-produced by Arto Lindsay and featuring collaborations with Arnaldo Antunes, Nando Reis, Marcelo Camelo or Jorge Drexler, in which bossa nova, carioca waltz, pop, soul and even funk coexisted at will.
Peruvian singer Eva Ayllón, versed in Creole waltzes and all kinds of Afro-Peruvian styles, has a vast career of more than thirty albums to her name over fifty years (she is just now celebrating her fiftieth anniversary in music) and distinctions such as the Latin Grammy for musical excellence in 2019, in addition to multiple nominations. The queen of landó, as she is known for her mastery of the Afro-Peruvian musical genre, has shared the stage with artists such as Marc Anthony, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Mariza, Raphael, Alex Lora, Diego "El Cigala" El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico or Armando Manzanero, and is considered one of the great exporting values of the culture of her country, along with figures such as Tania Libertad and Susana Baca.
