THEY

"I think that women hold the world on tenterhooks, so that it doesn't fall apart while men try to push history along. In the end, one wonders which of the two will be the less sensible" - Gabriel Garcia-Márquez

They say that everything is easier when you have a woman by your side. Without them we are not life.

Sometimes I dwell on human stupidity, on that absurd incoherence that spits on women and stains their (almost) divine essence. I am deeply hurt by those who allow themselves to live in supremacy and boast lightly with superfluous kilos of testosterone that only hint at latent insecurities to be discovered.

Sometimes I also rejoice at the turn the world has taken in the last century and for having made equality a fact and not just a right. As Chavela used to say, "people simply love or they don't love. Those who love will always do so at all times, intensely and passionately. Those who don't love will never rise even an inch off the ground. Grey, bloodless men and women". Let's celebrate love and let's do it by drinking life and singing, for there is no fear or dread, just freedom.

Noches del Botánico wanted to pay tribute to women by putting together a heart-stopping line-up in which they will play a major role: we wanted to raise our voices and honor a cast of ladies who, without a hint of arrogance, will delight the audience; their insight and talent is irrefutable. Past, present and future. Artists capable of thrilling with that innate versatility and that love for a profession that they extol in each verse. Lovers of the beautiful and the mundane, capable of taking us to ecstasy with each guitar stroke. Feeling and grit. That's how this line-up is... diverse and overwhelming.

At this point, let me remind you of the hurricane that is coming our way: Ana Belén with her tireless effervescence (trademark of the house), Andrea Motis will present a new album loaded with Carioca influence, Zahara and Ximena Siñarana will show us the excellence of indie, the multi-instrumentalist Hindi Zahra will take us to unknown lands, Lorena McKenitt will be in charge of crushing us with her class for two nights, the unclassifiable Macy Gray will make us fall in love with her voice instantly, the unparalleled ART of Niña Pastori, the skill of Jane Birkin and Melody Gardot (in equal parts), and the relentless sensuality of Russian Red, and the spectacular Women's Symphony Orchestra of Madrid who will give us the soul in the form of beautiful compositions.

Sometimes I don't know if my head is big enough to hold all the stars of this female universe we have created or if, on the contrary, this universe is small enough to fit in my human head. In any case, everything is easier when you have a woman by your side.
