This project is a tribute to the Three Tenors. In 1990, José Carreras, Plácido Domingo, and Luciano Pavarotti performed their legendary concert at the Terme di Caracalla in Rome and now, 27 years later, the members of Il Volo (Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble) pay tribute to them by bringing this iconic classical music to new audiences. The members of Il Volo grew up listening to these melodies, fascinated and inspired by the voices of the Three Tenors and their great achievements.
The NOTTE MAGICA Tour 2017 started with the concert in Florence, in Piazza Santa Crocce together with the great orchestra of the famous Teatro Massimo di Palermo conducted by Maestro Ramón Tebar. Maestro Plácido Domingo participated in the concert as a special guest, conducting operatic arias and popular songs.
Il Volo "Notte Magica" in Cinemas will feature images of the group on tour and also singing some of the most famous Neapolitan songs and arias from the Italian and international opera repertoire, all of which have been performed by the Three Tenors.
"Some people might consider it pretentious for us to pay homage to these great artists, but it's not really pretentious, because it doesn't even cross our minds to compare ourselves to the artists who inspired us," says Il Volo.
"I am delighted to be able to conduct Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca on this magical night under the stars of this beautiful city: Florence! I am very fond of them, they are taking a great repertoire around the world, the same music that I sing in my concerts," says Plácido Domingo.
