We are convinced that, for these two people who visited us with their crews on 7 July, the word "retirement" means very little.
Both saxophonist Charles Lloyd and drummer Billy Hart have several decades of life behind them. Many of them. And they are still at the foot of the cannon, fighting on stage and climbing note by note, with their respective instruments, until they reach each of the summits of the compositions they play. It was a real treat to attend the jazz and mastery recitals they offered us.
Opening the night were Charles Lloyd accompanied by his The Marvels, that is, Greg Leisz on steel guitar, Reuben Rogers on electric bass and Eric Harland on drums. They were also accompanied by another legend: guitarist Bill Frissell, who stole some of the limelight, and deservedly so.
They were followed by Billy Hart Quartet, the project of the legendary drummer, who has shared that he has collaborated with Otis Redding, Wes Montgomery, Wayne Shorter and many others throughout his career. They were accompanied by the wonderful Joshua Redman on saxophone.
