It is difficult to describe in words all the sensations that a single person is capable of generating on stage. One voice, two hands. A piano and a guitar, sounding indistinctly. Rufus Wainwright, the inexhaustible talent; the strength, the passion and the softness.

All this is what we experienced in his concert last July 5th at Noches del Botánico, where we were fortunate to enjoy his most special, intimate and close format. In an incomparable setting such as the Real Jardín Botánico Alfonso XIII, we could almost touch Rufus. Of course, we were able to perceive and receive all his energy.

A wild start, with Beauty Mark and Vibrate. Dedications to the much-missed Jeff Buckley and Leonard Cohen. A nod to the Pride celebrations that took over the centre of Madrid that week. Criticism of President Trump, including a cross-dressing model. Previews of his new album, to be released in 2019.

Mentions of his second opera, which premieres this autumn. And above all, a lot of humour.

What a concert! Rufus Wainwright is enough to take our breath away.
