Calexico arrived in Madrid on 21 July ready to give their best. They are immersed in an extensive European tour with which the Tucson band are presenting their new album, their ninth, 'The Thread That Keep Us'.
In their unmistakable sound converge folk and Americana with more frontier roots, which they draw from their native Tucson (Arizona). And Joey Burns and John Convertino's band displayed all their sound references on the stage of the Real Jardín Botánico de Alfonso XIII.
Fans of Jairo Zavala and his Depedro project were in for a treat that night. It is well known that Jairo has long been part of the Calexico live line-up, so we saw him do a double bill that not only 'held up' but delivered with unrivalled delivery and rhythm.
Depedro's concert opened the double session and, judging by the number of attendees and everything they sang, the español has a good number of followers, and we are delighted!
