On Saturday 30 June we witnessed an authentic exercise in musical quality. Both by the 'new national generations', to be more precise, and by one of the most iconic bands of the 80s who, a few decades later, have shown that they are still in top form.
The evening began, as always, in the Alhambra Club Zone, where the #ResidentM80 Juan Pablo Jiménez managed to get our inner teenager dancing to a repertoire full of the best of the 80s.
Next, Gimnástica from Alicante opened the show presenting their direct pop full of textures from their new album, 'Líquido'. The connection with the audience and the overabundance of energy were the strong points of their performance, with which they livened up the minutes before the main course of the night.
And finally came the crowning moment. Simple Minds took the stage and made it clear that they are still "alive and kicking" by presenting their new songs, which have nothing to envy to their greatest hits, to Noches del Botánico .
The Scottish band were given a standing ovation and a standing ovation from the audience, whose commitment elevated the unforgettable experience throughout their repertoire. We are firmly convinced that the ensemble of Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill and company have as dazzling a past as they do a present.
And, indeed, they played great hits like 'Love song', 'Once upon a time', 'All the things she said', 'Alive and Kicking' and 'Sanctify Yourself' which sounded fully current, fresh and delighted the audience. But they also had time to show us songs from their new album 'Walk Between Worlds' such as 'The Signal and The Noise' or 'Summer', which received applause and undoubtedly, they were well received by the 3,000 attendees.
